Welcome to Vennworks. We make beautiful hand-crafted cutting boards, charcuterie boards, serving boards, citrus boards, butcher block, and more.

Each is meticulously crafted from locally sourced domestic and/or exotic hardwoods. We have a selection of boards in stock or we can design and build a board customized to your specifications.

Handmade custom cutting boards offer a unique blend of functionality, craftsmanship, and personalization. Our process includes:

Wood Selection: We favor a combination of high-quality domestic hardwoods to create our cutting boards, including Maple, Walnut, and Cherry, alongside sustainably-harvested exotic species such as Purpleheart, Padauk, and farmed Teak. These woods are chosen for their durability, knife-friendliness, and attractive grain patterns. The rough lumber we use to build our boards is locally sourced and hand selected by Vennworks.

Customization: At Vennworks, we especially enjoy working with clients to create customized cutting boards, designed to your preferences and intended use. We begin with a basic style then substitute wood species, add juice grooves and/or handles, build to a specific size, or create a custom pattern.

Construction Techniques: We are not a production facility. Every cutting board is carefully crafted in our small shop located in Gulfport, Fl. We make end grain, edge grain, and occasionally face grain boards. Due to the vertical orientation of the wood fibers end-grain construction is gentler on knife edges and more resistant to scarring. End grain boards also lend themselves to the creation of complex, geometric patterns. Our edge and face grain boards achieve their beauty from a carefully selected grouping of wood species and meticulous layout. All are naturally bacteria resistant. Whichever you decide is right for you, your kitchen will thank you and your guests will be jealous.

Finish: After rough completion and sanding, our cutting boards are bathed in food contact rated mineral oil. Each board is then finished with our house made board conditioner. A tin of our special-recipe wood conditioner is shipped with each board.

Craftsmanship: Due to the natural variations inherent in wood each board is a unique piece. We craft our boards with attention to detail and quality that mass-produced boards lack. This level of craftsmanship creates stunning pieces that can last a lifetime with proper care.
